I too have been caught up in a whirlwind of snow!  It's weird to think that my hometown (NYC) got more snow than we did in the mountains.  Still, the ground is covered, and there was quite a bit of digging out to do.

Lovely Things

A few things that made me smile today...long eyelashes, a model's smile (so rare), and this lovely Jimmy Choo clutch (if I owned this I may never need another clutch in my life!)

Sorry for the lack of posts...work has been CRAZY!!  Well I have been without eyeglasses for a while now, and since I am legally blind I think it is about time I get a back up for my contacts.  I found a website via Calivintage, and I am psyched.  $95 for frames and lenses!!  I am there.  So here is a pic that I created with their virtual try on tool.  So awesome, I believe these are the ones!

And a pic of some really amazing sunglasses. Love, love, love!

Christmas Tree

We finally went and got our Christmas tree!  This is something I look forward to all year.  We got bundled up and walked to the nearest tree vendor to choose the perfect one.  This is so much different from going upstate, where you choose from a Christmas tree forest and cut it down yourself.  It is magical either way.  My fellow and I came home, made cocktails, and decorated it with my great grandmother's vintage brooches and clip on earrings.  Finally a use for them other than stringing them awkwardly around my neck on a chain.  I can't belive she used to wear them on her ears!! Ouch!  I also got some red and white bakery string from Anthropologie to use as garland, and a pretty felt flower from Nepal for the topper.  Here is the finished product:

Holiday Handwork

I have been drooling over the prospect of embroidery for holiday dressing.  It adds a bit of detail and class, don't you think??  I especially love the lux embroidery on her sleeves with a seemingly casual striped turtleneck, or the prospect of wearing the vest below with almost everything!

I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving.  This season is by far my favorite time of year, and I'm glad it is finally in full swing!

Too Much?

This necklace is right up my alley, although is it a bit big and bulky.  I still adore it, and would wear it with a super simple outfit.

P.S. I do plan posting copious outfit pics...just waiting for my new camera to come in the mail!!

Sweet Sunday

I spent the better part of the weekend lazing around doing a whole lot of nothing, but I couldn't resist the idea of baking something sweet to offer for Thanksgiving.  So with a little nudge from my fellow I decided to make these:  White Chocolate Pistachio Cranberry Cookies.

As you probably noticed the recipe calls for macadamia nuts.  Alas all I had in the house were pistachios so I decided to try it.  Phenomenal!!  The pistachio adds a really great flavor and compliments the cranberry quite well.
One of the joys of living in NYC is being blessed with a small subpar oven.  I  try to keep a really close eye, but inevitably some of the cookies always burn.  This time it happened again as per usual.  While bidding on our christmas present to each other, (a new camera!!!!) the first batch bit the dust.
Round 2 proved to be better!  They turned out very yummy indeed!  These definitely satisfied my craving for something sweet.
This recipe definitely makes a reasonable amount of cookies especially if you add extra flour (about half a cup) which makes the finished product a bit more "cakey" than the original recipe would result in.
These will definitely be perfect to share with my family for a Thanksgiving dessert, and a change from all of the pie that will surely be gracing the table.

Well Hello!

So I am finally doing it!  I am sending my thoughts, inspirations, and photos into the blogosphere.  I've thought about writing a blog for some time now, but wasn't sure if I have enough to say, or if it was really so important.  However I am going to give it a shot anyway.   For today I will leave you with a beautiful image that makes me think of the lovely holidays that are on the horizon...more about that later!
