And so it begins...

The scorching hot humid NYC weather that is.  Wow Memorial Day you really brought summer this year!  This season for me represents a time when fleeing the city is necessary as often as possible, which is why we made our way upstate this past weekend.  There is so much more air!  Aside from breathing deeply, we relaxed a bunch, ate and drank, and made s'more cookies which were so good!  I will have to post the recipe.  It was really enjoyable, and too short, which weekends often are.  I'm looking forward to my next escape.

Happiness

Early this morning I was aimlessly wandering the inter webs unable to sleep, and I can across this: http://abloomsburylife.blogspot.com/2012/05/how-to-be-happier.html  Which is probably one of the greatest pieces I have ever read about achieving happiness in life.  Click and read...you won't regret it.

Sea of Stripes

Today On Habitually Chic there was the most amazing collection of people wearing stripes!  I just had to take a few of my faves and re-post them.  I think we are going on the third summer of my stripe obsession, and it just seems to keep getting worse.  I CANNOT get enough!  In my opinion, stripes and green drinks rule...

Love You to the Moon!

Oh Motha!  We have been on so many adventures you and I, and we are so similar in spirit.  You have been such a guiding light in my life, and no words are enough to show my gratitude.  So I hope that you enjoy your time in London with friends because you deserve it.

Here is poem that you have read to me countless times, that has maybe more meaning in my adult life than it did on those nights that I made you read it to me over and over again...I love you.

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
   Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
   That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
                     Said Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
   Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
   Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
   Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
   Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
   Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
   Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
                     Wynken,
                     Blynken,
                     And Nod.

Met Gala

via New York Mag
The best looks from the Met Gala by far.  The rest were gross!  It really just proves that money can't buy style.  These ladies know what their doing.  Even the slightly "out there" Alexander McQueen that Florence Welch donned is impeccable.

In looking at these I realize that I may have a slight fixation with chartreuse as of late.  I'm not sure my pale skin will allow me to pull it off.  I'll get back to you on that.

I would like...

these gloves now.  I don't care that it is in the sixties in NYC right now, and soon to be too hot to wear anything but a bra and underwear.  Now if I only knew where they were from.
